Description

Both items look mostly similar only one is smoother and has a signature, I'm guessing it's more likely real and the other is a reproduction, you can see the measurements in photos

What does this mean?

Thank you for submitting your items for appraisal. This appear to be two japanese ivory netsuke of the late Meiji period. A signed japanese Noh mask netsuke of Okame and an ivory netsuke Noh mask of Daikoku. One is illegibly signed. Both are of good quality and I believe I can see so called Schreger lines, which are an indication that this is ivory. There is an ivory trade ban in place right now, different regulations apply depending on the country where you live. Usually a CITES is needed to sell ivory. The estimate is based on recent auction results.
