Hi Shannon,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Kenneth Rodney Bunn is an American artist born in 1938; he is best known for his Western and Native American subject matter. His work became popular among collectors of Western art during the late 20th century, especially through galleries and limited-edition prints.
He has worked in several different media - oil and acrylic paintings, prints and lithographs and sculptured bronze - though by far his most prevalent works are bronzes.
The cougar was an animal he sculptured in different forms but "Descending Cougar" is one of his most complex and other versions of this have sold auction for between $6,000 and $9,000. For this particular work, the market has appreciated since your father purchased it nearly 40 years ago.
