Eero Saarinen valuations

Eero Saarinen was born to design furniture. As a teenager he assisted his famous architect father and Cranbrook Academy of Art director Eliel Saarinen and his mother Loja Saarinen, who were a skilled textile artist. In 1929 he left for Paris to study sculpture and next year he enrolled in the Yale architecture program

5 years later he was teaching at Cranbrook and working on new concepts for furniture designs. While teaching and working on Cranbrook he met Charles Eames. They became great friends and was able to push each other in their passion for furniture design. In 1940 their partnership resulted in winning the MoMa-sponsored Design in Home Furnishings competition in all categories, with an original collection of molded plywood chairs. It instantly made the young designer the next big thing in furniture design.

In the years after this Eero Saarinen designed the beautiful Knoll pieces we enjoy today, among which there is the famous Tulip chairs and tables, The 70 series seating collection and the Womb chair, having a big impact of the identity and established position of Knoll.
