Aladdin style kerosene or oil lamp with brass top
10” tall base 41/2 “
Hi Sharon,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This kerosene lamp represents an era where meticulous attention to detail was the standard. The lamp's design highlights the transition from utilitarian objects to decorative home accessories. This particular piece, with its hexagonal base and green rimmed chimney, may have been a treasured item in a Victorian-era home, illuminating rooms long before the widespread use of electricity.
Plume & Atwood has its roots in the Holmes, Booth & Atwood partnership, which formed in January 1869. A couple of years later, in 1871, the company was officially renamed Plume & Atwood Manufacturing Company. They later formalized their structure by incorporating in January 1880.
These early lamps are beautiful but the pendulum of interest has swung wide and they now bring very little at auction - usually between $10 and $15, though private sellers and antiques dealers may ask high two-digit or three-digit sums for ones with noteworthy provenance.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

Hi Sharon,
I'm sorry, it still looks like there are parts of the lamp that aren't included in any of the photos. If that's not the case, please let me know; otherwise, please take a photo that shows the lamp in its entirety, and one that's not cropped so close to the lamp
Thanks,
Delia
I am confused. How was the appraisal changed. It was appraised as $15-25. Was the value of the lamp re-evaluated? What is value, if it changed? Thank you for your upcoming reply.
The value of this lamp is between $15 and $25 if sold at auction; I apologize for the typo in the field that showed its value as $15025 - I've corrected that. This appraisal is complete and correct now.
