100 Birds, on silk, 59.5 x 30 inches, presented on scroll. Purchased in Hong Kong in 1983 for $10,000.00, from now closed reputable dealer, in Central, said to be by Kang Tao, who used first name as was custom, but changed name too over time. Did paint flowers, birds, people. Work is in xlnt condition and is very fine quality. For past several years, no one seems to paint this big on silk in Asia.
Dealer said to have owned for some time.
Hello Gary,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. I apologize for the delay in your appraisal and thank you for your patience. The item presented appears to be a Chinese scroll painting, dating to the early-mid 20th century. I'm sorry but I disagree with the Tao Kang attribution. The artist was active during the 1700s and the depiction does not resemble is works. The attribution may have come from the inscription on the with work, which partially read "study or research of" and "summer drama." I am sorry I cannot fully translate the text. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of comparable Chinese scroll paintings, considering date and size. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
Hello Gary,
This is the first time seeing the email, so no need to be sorry.
I would suggest reaching out to an appraiser in your area for an in-person examination. You may find one from Mearto's directory.

I hope this helps.
Hello and thank you. You may have this email from before, if so, sorry for repeat. What do you require so as to provide more info, as I would like, then, to know the name of the artist, any other info, as I cannot do much, nor insure, absent more.
Many thxs, Garry
