Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a beautiful vintage diamond and gold ring. Such vintage jewellery are being offered at auction on a regular basis. The ring was made in the 1960s-1970s when this elaborate jewellery style was in fashion. This was the type of ring you would wear when going to a party or an event, not a daily wear kind of ring. It has a wonderfuld and elaborate design that is typical of this flamboyant era and at the moment is very much in fashion again. The total carat weight of the ring is quite high despite the fact that it is many smaller diamonds and it is set in 14 kt yellow gold. It is however hard to tell the clarity and colour of the diamonds based on the photo.
I believe that this ring would attract the attention of both collectors and dealers if it came up for auction. This is why there is a large gap in estimate as I believe it to quite possible that this ring would surprise at auction.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online jewellery auction, where I believe the ring has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the beautiful ring. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
Thank you
