15'x16' Woven Tribal Carpet
Family
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a turkish anatolian kelim or kilim rug, first half 20th century. A kilim or kelim is a flat tapestry-woven carpet or rug traditionally produced in countries of the former Ottoman Empire, which would include Iran, Azerbaijan and and other Turkic countries of Central Asia. The rug in your possession seems to be in good condition, made from self-dyed wool, woven in the slitweave technique.
The estimate is based on similar rugs offered or sold at auction, asking prices are sometimes higher.
