Two barrels in lined wooden boxWith the trigger mechanism and stock with W – Wilkinson number one on brass circle on topAlso has the Ramrod flint powder bag
I was told it was made by Matt and Hendery Nock and it’s a matched fowling piece
Dear Tony,
Thank you for your help and your patience. My sincere apologies for the delay with the appraisal.
The presented object appears to be cased H. Nock folwing rifle with two barrels with unknown measurements of the barrel and stock. The long proportions and barrel suggest the usage as a rifle for hunting birds. This cased rifle has a removable octagonal and cannon-shaped barrels which are labeled with the proof and the view mark of London. All parts like the barrels and the lock are labeled with brass plaque with H. Nock. Henry Nock (1741–1804) was a British inventor and famous gunsmith. The connection between the barrel and the lock indicate a production of this rifle after 1781. All metal parts are made in an high quality in the mechanical parts and overall quality of the surface of all metal parts. It comes with a Ramrod flint powder bag. The case was probably made in the 19th century.
Rifles by this gunsmith were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 3.000 to 7.000 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
Thank you very much for your time and patience, your appraisal was well received and now I know where I stand. The person who I inherited from was one of the first families in Virginia and lived in Manassas. He would have been thrilled to know it’s value .
Thank you,
Tony
P.S I have many other items to be appraised so thanks again

Tony
Dear Tony,
Thank you for your inquiry about consigning through Mearto. When you submitted your item to us for appraisal, did you select "yes" or "maybe" when you were asked if it was for sale? If so, your item automatically entered a database, which is accessed by a number of regional and international auction houses actively seeking new items for consignment. If there is any interest, they will contact you directly through our platform. You will receive an email notification if one of them makes an inquiry. If you selected "no" when asked if the item was for sale, you can change this so that your item enters the database. Just visit "my collection," select the item, then click the "edit item" button at the top of the page. On the resulting page, click "yes" or "maybe" to answer the question: "Are you looking to sell this item?" Good luck and if there's anything else I can do to help, please just let me know!
With kind regards,
George
