1672 wedding dowry Chest from England. Posibly made from white oak. Very solid .Original hinges. The casters were probly added after.

Dower chests of the late 17th Century would have had straight feet instead of bracket feet (that was an 18th Century invention), so I'm inclined to think the legs and the casters are replacements.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A Cromwellian or Jacobean era carved oak coffer
English, third quarter 17th Century
Of rectangular section with three-field paneled lid and front, with double-paneled sides, on bracket feet. With stylized foliate decoration. Dated 1672
33 inches tall, 52-1/2 inches wide, 25-1/2 inches deep
