This is an old gold pocket watch given to F.E. Wilson from Cheraw, SC by his father and many years prior to the Civil War. Watch was lost by Mr. Wilson when General Sherman came through the south. Recovered by a Union soldier and returned to Mr. Wilson. Item is the watch, winding jewel, and original case or box.

the gold dial with lake scene, with Roman numerals with seconds subsidiary dial, the reverse featuring a dog and hunting scene inner cover engraved Ed Dubois Locle. serial No: 8058, and scratched with F.E Wilson, 15 jewel lever movement, dimensions unknown.
Founded in 1743 from Moise Dibois in Le Locle was the company DuBois et Fils. Not long after producing watches in 1751 Moise DuBois passed over the business to his son Philippe DuBois in 1760. The Company was then re-named in 1785 to Dubois et fils when his two sone joined the business.
According to the owner the watch was "given to F.E. Wilson from Cheraw, SC by his father and many years prior to the Civil War. Watch was lost by Mr. Wilson when General Sherman came through the south. Recovered by a Union soldier and returned to Mr. Wilson."
