This was recently passed on from my 88-year old grandfather, who had previously stated of acquiring it from a close friend who had stored it in their closet.

The presented object appears to be a Civil War period CSA 1863 percussion rifle with a 33” barrel. The lock is stamped with an eagle above CSA on the hammer plate, the year 1863, and Fayetteville.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 2.500 to 5.000 USD.
