Lever action Colt 44-40 Burgess rifle. Minor pitting fully functional. Still has the original Colt emblem.
Purchased at a garage sale in Amirrillo Texas in the mid-80s.
Dear James,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a Colt Burgess Rifle Lever Action rifle.
It has the caliber Cal. 44-40 and the gunstock was probably made out of nut wood. The serial number is not attached in a detailed image but the Burgess lever guns were made from 1883-1885.
This piece appears to be in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 2.000 to 3.000 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
