Hi Peggy,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Most of these Chinese Art Deco rugs were made in the 1920s and 30s and I while I don't see any proof of this being from 1915, I've given it the benefit of the doubt and catalogued it accordingly (there wouldn't be a difference in value either way).
Recent auctions of comparably-sized blue examples have been bringing prices ranging from $2,500-4,500; please note retail websites such as Chairish, 1stDibs or others will have retail prices, always higher than the fair-market prices Mearto appraises at and which are based on public auctions.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A near-antique Chinese Art Deco hand-woven wool rug
circa 1915
With a vibrant cobalt-blue field with cream and light-blue central medallion, spandrels and double border, cobalt outer border. Lacking selvedges (fringe)
9 feet 2 inches by 11 feet 9 inches
CONDITION: This rug appears to be in good condition without wear or fading/uneven colors.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$2,500-4,500*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.
