What does this mean?

Hi Cheryl,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

Buddy L (aka Buddy “L” or Buddy‑L) is an iconic American toy brand first launched in 1921 by the Moline Pressed Steel Company in East Moline, Illinois. Created by Fred A. Lundahl—originally to make a tough toy truck for his son Arthur (“Buddy”)—it quickly became famous for its large, “guaranteed indestructible” pressed‑steel vehicles.

The Flivver Huckster was essentially a version of Buddy L's popular Flivver truck line, featuring the same body as the 1‑Ton model but with added side supports and a bed cover—ideal for vendor-style delivery use. According to antique toy records, the Buddy L Flivver 1‑Ton Express Truck was released in 1929 the same time the Huckster was debuted (the date of 1926 was when the company was founded, not when this truck was made).

This appears to be one of the original models; while the Buddy L market has cooled a bit - due to significant collectors dying off or selling their collections, most of this vintage and condition sell for between $2,500 and $3,500 now.
