Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a lovely teddybear. Such vintage toys are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
It is very clear that your fathers teddybear has had a life filled with love and been told many secrets. However when appraising old and antique toys the collectors and dealers prefer the items that has never been played with and that are in min condition. This is not quite the case with your teddy bear. By the look of it I would guess that is is an English teddybear. The circular ears and limbs indicate this. As for the age I agree that it was made in the early/first quarter of the 1900s.However it is hard to tell what it may have looked like when it was new out of the teddy factory and had the mohair fur, paws and stitched face intact. Today it will primarily be the sentimental value that is relevant as the resale value will be very low due to the condition of the teddy bear.
However I personally prefer the teddybears that have lived a life as a loved friend.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online antique toys auction, where I believe the teddybear has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to your fathers teddybear. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
