I WAS TOLD IT WAS A: -1932 RENE LALIQUE GLASS LAMP -2FT TALL -15 LBS -PURCHASED IN 1972 -THIS APPRAISAL IS FOR AN INSURANCE CLAIM, AS IT WAS STOLEN -I HAVE ONE MORE PICTURE OF THE BOTTOM IF YOU NEED IT
I PURCHASED IT AT AN AUCTION IN 1972
A vintage lamp with crystal base in the form of a stylized Art Deco bust of a female with short bob haircut and bangs, possibly an homage to Joan of Arc, the French 15th century heroine who was later canonized as a saint. This is purported to be from 1932 and to have a raise-molded 'Lalique' mark, though it is not visible in the images. Generally, a 1930's Lalique crystal piece that was designed by Rene Lalique would have a hand etched signature on the underside as opposed to a raise embossed 'Lalique'. The estimate here does not serve as an authentication. The value is based on the presumption that this is Lalique based on the information provided by you.
Hello,
The question was, “Was this signed at the bottom?” It was embossed with “Lalique” on the back at the bottom right above the base. The embossing was comparable to the embossing on a mason jar. You can not see it in the photos because they’re not clear enough and since it was stolen, we can not get any more.
Thank you,
Dean Duke
