1950's Christian Dior-Wool, Silk dress. Dress is two piece with spaghetti straps. Has label of Boutique Christian Dior Paris 101910-Made in France. Other Label has Luzy Ling? 41400-Zurich. Dress length is just under knees.
Does not have size tag.
Biographical/Historical Note: Narcissa Swift King (1911-1998) was active in the Civil Rights Movement from Chicago, Ill. King was the great-granddaughter of of Gustavus F. Swift, founder of the Swift meat packing company. She helped found and became the first chairwoman of the Chicago Urban League's woman's board in 1964 and was active in the Civil Rights Movement. King moved to Santa Fe, NM in 1979, and was active in the arts community there. This interview is part of the Archives of American Art Oral History Program, started in 1958 to document the history of the visual arts in the United States, primarily through interviews with artist, historians, dealers, critics, and administrators. Funding for this interview was provided by the Georgia O'Keefe Foundation. Funding for the digital preservation of this interview was provided by a grant from the Save America's Treasures Program of the National Park Service.
