What does this mean?

Dear Rebekah,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the apprisal.

The presented object appears to be a first-generation Smith & Wesson safety hammerless 32 cal five-shot revolver. The surface is nickel-plated and the grips were made out of mother of pearl. It has the patent and the serial number 116585 which dates this revolver into the year 1893.
This piece is in medium condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided but the surface is damaged.
A fair market estimation would be between 300 to 600 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.

With kind regards,
George
