Rubens Originals was a mid-20th-century American company renowned for its whimsical and collectible ceramic pieces. Established in Los Angeles, California, Rubens Originals designed a variety of decorative items, including planters, vases, figurines, lighting and head vases. While the designs originated in the U.S., the actual production was outsourced to Japan, a common practice during the 1950s and 1960s due to Japan's skilled craftsmanship and cost-effective manufacturing.

Of circular section and globular form, with removeable cylindrical insert and pierced sides in a stylized foliate pattern, marked to the underside with original factory foil sticker.
