What does this mean?

Hello Leslie,

Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. The items presented appears to be two gouache or ink paintings on fabric depicting past emperors of China. One work appears to depict King Zhou, Emperor of Shang, (1105 BCE - 1046 BCE), and the other Xiang Yu, Emperor of Chu (232 BCE - 202 BCE). Both paintings appear to date to the 20th century and were produced for Chinese decorative export. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of other comparable paintings depicting the ancient emperors of China, dating to the 20th century. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
