KAWS is one of the premier urban artists working today, his pieces reflect that in their worth. KAWS has sold many paintings for millions of dollars. On the low end, some of his vinyl figures can be had for a thousand dollars or less. KAWS teamed up with Real Skateboards (part of Deluxe Distribution from California) in 2007 to create a unique exhibition skateboard deck. This collaboration brought together KAWS' iconic Companion aesthetic and Real’s skate culture in a limited-edition art‑meets‑deck release.
The pair produced two designs: a “Real” version that features the letters R‑E‑A‑L transformed into Companion‑style graphics, complete with KAWS’ signature XX‑eyed A and a “Fake” version, which had a similar concept, but was branded “Fake,” printed on both sides .
