Pair of 22 karat gold painted art deco table lamp I believe purchased at Montgomery Ward in Buffalo New York in the early 50s. They were my grandmother‘s prize possession. She kept them most of their life covered in plastic.
The lamps measure roughly 33 inches tall from base to top of spindle for shade
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
We don't know who Montgomery Ward purchased these from so I'm not able to attribute them to a specific maker, only they're likely Italian in origin.
The use of 22K gold elevates the value of these lamps a bit but not as much as you might think - comparable lamps without the gilding usually sell at auction for less than $200 (each) while gilt ones can bring up to $400 each.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A pair of vintage Italian parcel gilt and brass mounted table lamps
unattributed maker, mid-late 20th Century, retailed by Montgomery Ward
Each of circular section and vasiform, with domed top over lobed relief-modeled sides and lobed sections on a domed base raised on cast brass dolphin supports on a pierced brass base. Presumably unmarked.
Overall height: 33 inches
CONDITION: These appear to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 500-800 for the pair*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.

These are worth $250-400 each, or $500-800 for the pair. There’s not much more I can do on my end without seeing the lamps dismantled (NOT recommended) to see if there’s a makers mark somewhere now obscured).
The values you gave are good, but I don’t see reference to whether you’re speaking as a pair or each. If you learn anymore, it would be interesting to find the maker. I searched and searched and found no makers mark.
