30 inch necklace purchased in Singapore (now Malaysia) by my grandfather in 1927 while he was working there. It was always labeled "Chinese gold".

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a beautiful gold necklace. Such vintage and antique jewellery are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
The necklace has a beautiful design with the circular beads and a good length, however when you look closely at the photos it looks as if the gold is flaking off and there is a silver coloured metal underneath. It is the same case as with the other necklace. It may just be the photos, but I would like to know if you have had the necklace tested. And are there any goldsmith marks on the necklace
It is difficult to get an idea of how heavy the necklace is without the weight.
As for the age of the necklace I would say that based on the design it was made in the 20th century.
The appraisal is conditional as I am assuming it is 14 kt gold and that the necklace has a weight of 40 grams.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online jewellery auction, where I believe the necklace has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the necklace. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
Thank you
