Painted by Dale “Duke” Wellington, this 24” x 36” painting was presented as one of a series of 4 western painting.
Presented to my grandfather by the artist
This is a vintage, 20th century, 24" x 36" original oil on canvas painting of an American West scene by Dale 'Duke' Wellington (1896 - 1987). It is entitled by hand on the backside as being a view of the 4UR Ranch in Wagon Wheel Gap Hot Springs, Colorado. The historic Ranch was established in the late 19th century and is still in business to this day. Wellington was born in Kansas and attended Kansas State College. He went on to Los Angeles, California where he studied at the Los Angeles Art Center. His career was as an art director for theaters and with Paramount Theatres from 1927-36 and the National Screen Service in Los Angeles from 1946-56. There is not a large following of active collectors for works by this artist, however there is an active collector base for works depicting scenes of the American West. The subject matter of this work is what will drive the sale-ability of it. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
There are still no requested additional images showing here on this end
New photos will be coming today, sincerest apologies for the delay. I will also submit pictures of the other works in the series as separate pieces, as well as some newly discovered painting commissioned by the former music director for P.T. Barnum & Bailey
4U ranch is a 24” x 30” painting on canvas
Please add a clear, in-focus close-up of the signature, or frame label and the surface to show the texture. Also a photo of the backside (do not remove from frame)
