Set of 50 pieces of stemware from my grandmother with a variety of types of stemware. The pieces have a pattern of leaves and stems that look almost like wheat. The wine glasses have a somewhat tulip shape.
Grandmother's set. She was born around 1910.
Hi Louise,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please give me an approximate idea of how many of each kind of glass you have? Also, are there any marks on the underside of any of these to identify maker?
Thanks!
Delia
Thanks so much, Louise!
It's hard for sets like this to bring more than $2-3 PER PIECE at auction, though there are occasionally some surprises. Dealers like to buy them and mark them up, which is why one often thinks these are worth more but I wanted to make sure I didn't get your hopes up as to what their value was on the auction market (the values Mearto appraises at).
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A set of 50 pieces of vintage pressed glass barware and stemware
American, mid 20th Century
comprising:
12 red wine glasses,
12 small white wine or sherry glasses
12 martini glasses
8 champagne glasses
5 tumblers
PROVENANCE: client inherited from grandmother
$100-150*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you for using Mearto.
I'm not disappointed at all! I was never planning to sell them; I'm giving them to my niece and wanted to know more about them. Thank you!
Any time! :)
hi! I don't see anything written on the bottom. I am not at home but I believe there are 12 of the large wine glasses, 12 small wine or sherry glasses, and 12 martini glasses, 8 champagne glasses, and 5 water (or highball?) glasses. This may not be totally accurate but pretty close if not. thanks!
