6 tablespoons strait set 800 silver
Bought at auction
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a beautiful set of antique silver spoons. Such vintage flatware are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
The silver spoons were made in France in the late 18th to early 19th century. The marks on top of the handles are French. This is one of the only countries that mark silver flatware on the front instead of on the back. I cannot determine where the spoons were made nor who the maker was. The photos of the marks are too insufficient for this.
The shape of the spoons are called violin shaped spoons. The engraving on the handle is of interest to a potentiel family member but decreases the value when sold as they rarely match a new buyers initials. The price would have been higher if the spoons had been accompanied by forks and knives too.
I believe that the spoons would attract the attention of both collectors and dealers if it came up for auction.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online silver auction, where I believe the spoons has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the French spoons. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.

Thank you
Your item will be presented for several auction houses, but they tend only to be interested in items worth more than $1000.
I would recommend eBay for these kinds of items because of the extended amount of buyers on the platform.
As for the additional silver pieces - you may upload photos of all 6 and then we will give you an appraisal of the pieces together. We do not appraise several items individually when uploaded as a package.

Thank you. Where would you suggest I sell them. Also I have bought some more silver, about six pieces. Can they be appraised as a package?
