These are the original hand-drawn pencil-on-vellum plans that the sets in Robert Zemeckis' 1992 oscar winning film "Death Becomes Her" were built from. There are 60 drawings total, 46 are formal drafting plans with detail blocks indicating production, date drawn, and artist. There are also an additional 14 preliminary drawings which are smaller, more informal, drawn on very thin tracing paper, and have no information block. I have a full catalogue of the collection available as a .pdf, but I don't think attaching it below worked.
On average, 42" x 30"
Hello, this item is a complete group of 60 original pencil on vellum set construction drawings created for the 1992 film Death Becomes Her, directed by Robert Zemeckis. The drawings consist of 46 formal studio drafting sheets with title blocks and production information, alongside 14 preliminary working drawings on thin tracing paper. The materials, scale, drafting conventions, and studio stamps are consistent with late 1980s to early 1990s Hollywood production design practice. The drawings document architectural layouts, staircases, elevations, and decorative elements used to construct the mansion sets seen in the finished film. As a cohesive archive, the group has strong historical relevance, as it directly records the physical realization of one of the most recognizable set designs of early 1990s cinema.
From a market perspective, original production drawings from major Hollywood films trade as film memorabilia and design archives rather than as individual works on paper. Comparable sets from high profile films by established directors typically sell in the range of USD 25,000 to USD 50,000 when complete and well documented. Given the size of this group, the clear attribution, and the cult status of the film, a fair market value for the entire set is USD 30,000 to USD 50,000, assuming overall condition remains stable and the group is sold intact rather than dispersed.
