I don't have much details except that we just inherited it from my husband's great grandfather who purchased it in Los Angeles. To give you an idea, the rug was given to my mother-in-law who recently passed away at the age of 104. So the rug has been in the family for at least 100 years.

Hi Nasim,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Sarouk carpets originated in the Sultanabad region (modern-day Arak, Iran). When ones of comparable size are offered for sale by rug dealers and galleries, they often ask very high retail prices - sometimes as much as $5,000-7,000 - but when they are sold at auction, they bring only a fraction of that: usually less than $1,000.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Persian Sarouk hand-loomed wool carpet
made in Iran, circa 1920s-30s Century
In the characteristic Sarouk palette of reds and blues, featuring a lush pile and stylized foliate elements.
8 by 10 feet
CONDITION: This carpet appears to be in good condition; value assumes no tears, stains, odors or repairs.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
Fair market value: $ 700-1,000; retail value $5,000-7,000*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
