This is an antique, 19th century, original painting by Italian-born, American immigrant, self-taught artist, Angelo Asti (1847 - 1903) of a half length portrait of a female nude. Asti was not formerly trained as an artist. he discovered his ability later in life when he emigrated to the U.S. and obtained a job in a lithographers office in Ohio. He then moved to Paris and painted on his own by studying works in the Louvre. He 'accidentally' was entered into the Paris Salon Exhibition and won an award. His painting career was a relatively short span of only over a decade before his passing in 1903. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
