According to Google AI this antique clarinet is a Buffet Crampon Clarinet possibly model R13. It's made from African Blackwood/grenadilla.
64.4 cm or 25 and 3/8 inches
Hi Kyle,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Yes, this certainly does appear to be a Buffet Crampon R13 clarinet made of grenadilla.
Other used Buffet Crampon clarinets of similar age and model usually sell for between $2,000-2,500 when offered at auction; they usually retail between $3,500-5,500, depending on condition. Because yours appears to be in need of some cleaning (and possible restoration), it's fair-market value is more appropriately $1,000-1,500.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Buffet Crampon R13 grenadilla-wood clarinet
Made in Paris, circa 1920s-30s
With fitted hard case; no serial number
25-3/8 inches long
CONDITION: In original condition; in need of refurbishment.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 1,000-1,500*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.

Btw the way I just uploaded pictures instead of emailing them. Im cautiously optimistic on the appraisal and offer if I choose to sell it. Looking forward to hearing from you ๐
Hi Kyle,
The only number I could make out on the mouthpiece was "K9" and the word CONSERVATOR - can you just write down what the serial number is?
Thanks,
Delia
I tried looking for it and couldn't locate it. Can you give me some hints on where it might be??
The serial number is usually near the maker information, and usually on metal.
If you still can't find anything, let me know and I'll finish this appraisal based on the history you gave me...
Thanks!
What were the rough dates when your grandmother was in high school?
Okay. Im guessing probably around the 1920's maybe 1930's.
Well I viewed the clarinet once again, and couldn't find any numbers or names.
Kyle, you're all set with this.
Thanks again for using Mearto - we appreciate your business.
Have a great weekend,
Delia
1800 bucks!! I like the sound of that!!
Hi Delia, thanks for getting back to me. The clarinet belonged to my Grandma when she was in high school. My Great Grandmother purchased for her. I did take pictures of a number on the mouthpiece and I will send them to you via email.
To answer more questions, I did get it out and tinkered with it and all I could do was get to squeak. As for cleaning and tuning, that's something I cannot answer. It's a very, very old instrument, and more than likely needs quite a bit of tender loving care. The instrument is in great condition for all these years because its been stored in its original case. Im sure with lots of tuning, cleaning, and lots of tlc it will work good as new.
