A grandmother clock which appears to be a copy of an 18th century design. The cabinet is made from mahogany with curl veneers and sandalwood panels, decorated with hand-inlaid ribbons and floral stems. It has a brass dial and a silver-platee etched chapter ring. As far as I know it is in working condition. The clock was purchased in 1999 from O Comitti & Son Ltd in London. It comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Hi Alexander,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Comitti of London is a distinguished British clockmaking company with a legacy that dates back to 1850. It is recognized for producing luxury timepieces, particularly traditional mechanical clocks, and is one of the few remaining British clockmakers still crafting high-end, handcrafted clocks.
I'm aware that these retail for prices between $15,000-20,000 (£12,000-15,000), when these come up at auction, they bring fair market prices (akin to wholesale) for less, usually less than $10,000 (£7,000-10,000)
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Georgian Revival inlaid maple and mahogany chiming long-case clock
In the Fairfield model, made by Comitti, London, late 20th Century
With broken swan's neck pediment with lightwood/brass rosettes and inlaid tympanum over a tombstone-shaped door opening to a cast and engraved brass dial with roundel engraved "Comitti/London" , playing Winchester, Whittington and Westminster tunes, the waisted case with glazed oculus opening to chimes and pendulum, on an inlaid box base.
170cm (70 inches) x 37cm (14.5 inches) x 27cm (10.5 inches)
CONDITION: This clock appears to be in good condition.
