i bought this painting in an auction on CTBIDS.com. it was an estate sale. This is a small painting elegantly framed in a raised, golden gilded-look frame with glass. "Marfori-Savini" and the word "Firenze" are printed neatly in the bottom left corner. The frame is nearly 1" thick with the opening roughly 5"x8". The total frame size is 12.5"x9.5".
i purchased it as high bidder at an auction created by Caring Transitions/D.Osborne "Decor and More" in westminster california . i just added pictures of the paper on the backing of the photo. it is dated 1936 and is written in italian
The appraised work is an oil on canvas painting likely executed by Italian artist Filippo Marfori-Savini (1877-1952). The painting depicts a half-length portrait of a woman with a large hat. The artist exhibited across Italy and Europe and appears to have been based in Florence. The estimate provided is based on comparables recently offered and sold at auction. The appraised work's size, composition, condition (based on photographs provided), as well as the artist's current auction market were taken into consideration when determining the estimate. In many cases, pricing for similar examples available on the primary (retail) market vary, and are often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
Happy to help. If you are interested in consigning your artwork, you can visit Mearto's main homepage and click on the link labeled 'Consign' at the top. From there, you will be prompted to provide information about the artwork, which will be made available to auction houses. Once that information is submitted, someone should be in contact about possible consignment. Alternatively, you can email [email protected] to discuss consignment.
