If it's not lacquer and on paper, it is more likely a salesman sample shown around to generate commissions and likely for export, in the late 19th and early 20th Century
This would then be catalogued/appraised as:

Hello Delia:
I hope you are doing well.
With regard to the piece, I am almost certain it is not lacquer. I have a screen and an armoire made from lacquer coromandel, and it is different. This piece has fine, flat painting I think . The lacquer screen--even the old ones--have a brighter gold finish and a 3D quality to the kimono-clad women in lacquer pieces that I have, especially their faces. The framed screen appears to be painted with a fine brush and it is quite flat. I am not sure if I am characterizing the work properly. But that's interesting. Doll furniture!
Thank you.
