This painting is very finely detailed , but because of the gloss the pictures not as good as the actual paining. It is oil painted on copper and measures 10"x8" without the frame
Provenance Connecticut
Dear Simon,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a painting made in oil on copper with the measurements of 10 x 8 inches. the painting depicts a shepherdess with her goats with a mountain landscape in the background. The artwork is titled in French "La Bergere des Alpes" which means translated "Shepherdess of the Alps" and was made in the middle of the 19th century. The signature is not clearly readable because of an ink stain that covers a letter or is just an ink stain. Pinget is a common French last name and si there is a possibility that this artwork was made by the artist Henri Auguste PINGET.
Works by this artist were rarely recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 600 to 1.200 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
