These 2 Johnny Friedleander prints (aquatint etchings) are signed by the artist. One, depicting an abstract floral design, is numbered 72/200. The other, which is of an abstract fish form (?), has some writing in the lower left corner that could be a date (?).Tey are both framed and are about the same size (c. 14" x 24"). Forgive the glare in the photos. I can get precise measurements if needed. They were inherited.
approx. 14" x 24" (?)
Hello,
Your items are a pair of signed aquatint etchings by Johnny Friedlaender (1912–1992), a German-born French painter and one of the leading figures in 20th-century printmaking. Friedlaender’s work, especially his aquatints, is widely collected for its delicate abstraction and technical mastery. These two etchings, one with an abstract floral composition numbered 72/200, and the other with a potential abstract fish motif, both framed and inherited, represent typical examples of his post-war period output.
Friedlaender’s limited edition etchings generally range in value depending on subject, rarity, and condition. The edition number (72/200) suggests a controlled and collectible production. Both works are signed by the artist, which enhances their value and confirms their authenticity. The prints’ abstraction, fine linework, and textural complexity reflect Friedlaender’s signature style, marked by lyricism and expressive form.
