Aaliyah Dana Haughton was an American singer, actress, dancer, and model who left a lasting impact on R&B, pop, and hip hop. Known as the "Princess of R&B" and "Queen of Urban Pop", she was a trendsetter and role model for young women. Aaliyah's distinctive style and vocals helped redefine contemporary music. She made her film debut in Romeo Must Die, co-starring Jet Li, and executive produced the movie's hit soundtrack, which included her hit song “Try Again”.

Hi Jesus,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
“Extra Smooth” is a relatively obscure track associated with Aaliyah, and its significance lies more in her mid-1990s artistic development than in commercial impact. “Extra Smooth” was not released as a single and did not chart. It circulated mainly among fans and collectors through demos, leaks, or unreleased-track compilations. Because of that, it’s considered a deep archival track rather than a core part of her catalog.
The song is generally linked to sessions surrounding Aaliyah’s breakthrough album One in a Million (1996). That album marked a turning point in her career, introducing the futuristic R&B sound developed by producers Timbaland and Missy Elliott. “Extra Smooth” reflects that same sonic environment: a laid-back groove, minimal, rhythmic production and her understated vocal style.
For serious followers of Aaliyah’s work, “Extra Smooth” is interesting because it illustrates the studio experimentation of the mid-1990s sessions and helps show how her distinctive R&B style was evolving during that period.
Because it's less well known, I think this would not do quite as well at a public auction...more likely in the $1,000-1,500 range.
