Hi Jesus,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Recorded during Aaliyah’s "Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number" era (1994), “Where Could He Be?” it captures her in-between moment—artistically, emotionally, and historically—before she fully became Aaliyah as we now understand her. Musically, it’s more classic early-’90s R&B balladry—lush, straightforward, and less experimental than the Timbaland-driven sound that would later define her. What makes the song notable now is how unlike her later image it feels. Post-1996 Aaliyah rarely sounded uncertain or searching; “Where Could He Be?” preserves that earlier softness.
Though this reel isn't marked with the client's (label's) name, it was produced by Blackground Records and distributed by Jive Records.
