This mask is actually probably from Papua New Guinea, as denoted by the shell eyes, painted facial features and fibrous detailing around the edge, ears and nose
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Papua New Guinea carved wood mask
20th Century
Of elongated form with stylized forehead/hairline decoration, cowrie- shell-eyes, painted facial features, tassles from the nose and fibrous trim around the edge. Bearing a paper label inscribed 85/22/31G (21) / 57/21 / VT" (possibly a museum accession label)
27 inches long; 7 inches wide
CONDITION: This mask is in age-appropriate condition with some scuffs and losses to surface decoration, and losses to the fibrous trim.
PROVENANCE: Acquired 40 years ago from an art dealer in Africa
