The braided rope hair is characteristic of masks made by in the Dan culture of West Africa (Liberia and Ivory Coast).
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Dan carved wood mask with rope coiffure
West African, probably first half 20th Century
Surmounted by a topknot issuing braided ropes of hair, large stylized eyes heightened with white, stylized toothy mouth.
13-1/2 inches tall, 12 inches wide
CONDITION: This mask appears to be in good age-appropriate condition.
