This tusk came from Alaska. Found in the 1950’s. Brought back to PA and stored in my dad’s house ever since. It was cut off at the tip, sadly.
48 inches measured and to end in a straight line. 19 inches circumference at the thickest part. Must weigh 65 - 70 pounds
Mammuthus columbi Partial Tusk
Pleistocene (1.5 million to 11 thousand years ago)
Excavation Source: North America; Alaska
Dimensions: approximately 48"length; 19" circumference, 65 to 70lbs
Mammoth tusk with variegated shades, perhaps semi-fossilized. No repairs or fills to the dentine or enamel are noted on the item; loss at tip of incisor. Loss has been cut away.
Further steps will need to be taken to authenticate the age of the item. If provenance and authentication records are available; they should be included with the sale. It is important to recognize local, state, US federal, and International laws and prohibitions of sale and shipment. California, Washington, New York, New Jersey have laws that prohibit Mammoth & Mastodon specimens from being shipped into their states. Review of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES) Appendix II and in person authentication of age will be needed to determine sale.
Thank you!
