Hi Anita,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The American artist Yvonne Davis was born in 1946. Early in her life (in the early 1960s), she traveled with her family through South and Central America. To help support the family, she taught herself to help paint murals. What began as necessity turned into a sustained passion for art. In 1966 she worked as an assistant to a Japanese artist making woodblock prints. This experience influenced her interest in printmaking techniques like etching and engraving. She spent time overseas (including in Taiwan, Japan, and Germany), both for learning/travel and expanding her artistic experience. Eventually she settled in Gloucester, Maine, got married, had two children in the late 1970s. Later, due to health issues in the family, she moved to the Pacific Northwest, specifically to Seattle, Washington.
In Seattle she formed her own etching company, called Crossroads Studio, and has been producing prints and holding solo shows regularly in the Northwest. When her works come to auction, they usually sell between $200 and $300.
