My apologies! I have done a little more research. According to this (https://forum.saxontheweb.net/archive/index.php/t-4272.html), your instrument was made by Selmer USA and not Henri Selmer, Paris, which is who made saxophones with 5-digit serial numbers beginning with" "8" in 1960 and which are generally the ones that bring decent money at auction. Selmer USA does not list its full run of serial numbers so it is difficult to date yours accurately but I would guess it is in the last quarter of the 20th century - does that jibe with when the sax was acquired by your family?
A more appropriate value for this is $100-150.
I thought a selmer mark VI 1960 had only 5 serial numbers... mine has 6... very confused
