There are a few ways that you can test to see if it's real. One test to see if this is amber or plastic/glass is to put it in a cup of salt water. Amber floats, other materials sink. Another way to know if it is real amber or imitation glass: amber is very light and feels more like plastic to the touch. Glass is heavy and cold. One more way to test authenticity is to shine UV light (a black light) on the piece. If it glows, it’s real amber.

If the amber is real, the Fair Market Value is between $150 and $200.

If the necklace is glass or plastic, it is worth more like $30 to $50.
