I have an an 1880's Gas Ceiling Light with a Hand Blown blue opalescent coin-spot glass globe in very nice condition that was converted to electric at some point. The globe is about 7" tall and about 10" in diameter and the whole fixture is about 21" tall. It was probably hanging in a hallway or small area. I can't find any maker marks on it except for 4 squares stamped at a 45 degree angle on one of the gas pieces.
The globe is about 7" tall and about 10" in diameter and the whole light is about 21" tall.
Hi John,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a lovely Victorian brass oil entry light, with Fenton opalescent art glass shade, that dates to the late 19th Century; it's been converted for electricity more recently. I've found related examples of similar size retailing for between $1,500 and $2,000 but when sold at auction, you'd be more likely to achieve prices in the $700-1,000 range.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Victorian brass hall chandelier
with Fenton opalescent blue "coin dot" art glass shade
American, unattributed maker, first quarter 20th Century
21 inches overall height
CONDITION: this appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: unknown
$ 700-1,000*
