It was drawn for a lover in Paris probably 30’s. It’s on an index card opposite side. 4 in X 5.5 in. Looks like ink and water color.
Supposedly it was drawn at a cafe in Paris for a female lover who was the grandmother of a friend who sold it to me in Mexico 35 years ago. It is framed in acid proof museum quality framing/glass. Signed.
Hello Sebastian.
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with MeArto. The item presented depicts a cadaverous portrait of a male figure (based on the bearded face and torso). The item is signed "Picasso" to the lower margin. Whether the item is a painting is up for debate. Based on the images provided, the work is very fuzzy or blurry, indicating the item is a reproduction print. However, this may be due to low quality glass on the frame. Further, the work is on a 4x5 inch card, as noted. This is another indication the item is likely a reproduction print, as many prints are on index or post cards.
If you are able to provided names of the previous owners or even the assumed sitter, please let me know. Additionally, any examination outside the frame may lead to clarification and authentication. At this time, the estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and result of prints after Picasso paintings on similar-sized index or post cards.
