My friend gave me these rugs that were sitting in a warehouse for years, we do not know any details of where they came from originally.
Hello Sukkah,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Turkish Kayseri Kilim. The piece dates back to the period from 1970 to 2000. The piece's central are is dominated by three chest motifs constructed by the use of Symmetrical Ram Horn motifs. Ram Horns are usually used on the carpets and kilims for the symbolic purpose of fertility and power. The piece is knotted wool on woon. The colours are very contemporary and the dyes used are industrial dyes. The piece's central area is knotted on a dark green base while the borders were decorated on a white base. Use of horn and snake motifs are very common through the pattern. The piece is in good condition without visible problems.
Entirely hand knotted.
Dimensions: 188 Centimeters by 120 Centimeters
Condition: The piece is in good condition without visible problems.
Provenance: Given to the current owner by a friend.
Decorated by traditional Kayseri patterns.
