Dear Andrew,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a stone sculpture with the measurements of 7" tall, 5" wide, and 3" deep. The sculpture depicts a man with remarkable hair due. The style and the hair due to remind of late Roman emperor portraits. The surface is strongly eroded or the details are not that much carved out because of the hardness of this stone. The stone itself appears to be basalt or similar hard volcanic stone or very soft stone like tufa.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation for a sculpture from this period would be between 800 to 1500 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
