Rug has been in our family longer than I have (62 years). The blue is gorgeous and the rug is soft like butter.

Hi Matthew,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Chinese Art Deco carpets emerged in the early 20th century, particularly during the 1920s and 1930s, and blend traditional Chinese motifs with the bold colors and geometric patterns of the Art Deco movement, which was popular in Western design at the time.
Unlike traditional Chinese rugs, which often feature subdued tones, Art Deco carpets use bold hues like deep blues, purples, magentas, emerald greens, and golds. Instead of the intricate framing seen in classic Chinese rugs, Art Deco designs often have simple or asymmetrical borders. Common motifs include peonies, lotuses, dragons, phoenixes, pagodas, and cloud patterns, often woven in a more stylized, modern form. Many Chinese Art Deco rugs feature large, open fields of color with asymmetrically placed decorative elements, breaking away from traditional symmetry.
These rugs were primarily produced in China, especially in Beijing and Tianjin, for export to the Western market. They were highly sought after for Hollywood Regency-style interiors and luxury homes during the Jazz Age. Today, they remain collectible and are appreciated for their unique fusion of East and West.
When Chinese Art Deco rugs of this size and color come to auction these days, they usually sell for between $3,000 and $5,000. While your rug retains its bright blue colors, I can see patches of wear that, while appropriate to its age, are more extensive than I usually see and are a detriment to it's value, which is $2,000-3,000.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
