This lamp is brass and it is extremely heavy with etching in a Middle Eastern language on two areas of the lamp. It measures 38 inches tall.
This was bought in a lighting estate sale with other lamps. Provenance unknown.
Hi Rhonda,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I dont see the Arabic script you mention but strongly suspect this was made for the export market and the script doesn't translate accurately into anything significant (one sees that a lot on Oriental rugs, too).
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A large Orientalist style relief-decorated brass table lamp
Made for the export market, probably made in the Near or Middle East, 1900-1920
With bands of relief-worked decoration.
38 inches tall
CONDITION: minor use wear
PROVENANCE: acquired with other lamps
$400-600*
