I need some more info on this antique Chinese soft paste blue and white porcelain vase. It depicts a village at the base of a mountain. There is a motif of flowers and scrollwork at the top near the rim. There is a motif of a band of concentric circles near the base. There is an underglaze mark on the bottom consisting of a horizontal row of four characters over two horizontal rows of three characters each. It measures 20 3/8" tall, 8 1/2" in diameter at the rim, and 7 3/16" in diameter at the base. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I acquired this from an old New Orleans estate that belonged to a world traveler.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a japanese Hizen Arita porcelain 肥前有田 vase, signed " 大串在之助製", the vase of ovoid shape with straight neck, beautifully hand painted with a japanese mountaineous landscape, buildings, birds and travellers. Production date late Meiji Period. The estimate is based on similar items sold at auction. A serious Arita porcelain collector might be willing to pay more than the high estimate.
